UNC 104 — Wake Forest 67

North Carolina trounced Wake Forest University this afternoon with a lopsided 104-67 victory in the “Dean Dome”, in front of Dean Smith.

A special tribute was paid during half time to the 1957 (pictured to the left, courtesy UNC University Libaries), and 1982 teams, both of which won national championships.

Several players from the undefeated 1957 team, including Lennie Rosenbluth,  were present.     The 1982 team was well represented, too, by Michael Jordan, James Worthy, Sam Perkins, Dean Smith and  Bill Guthridge, and several others.   How much pressure does that now put on this year’s team to celebrate those anniversaries with another national championship?

Every single player on the UNC team saw playing time today.     All but one scored (Surry Wood), and even he got a rebound making this a total team effort.   Read Yahoo Sports! coverage for more details of the game.

Next up is a trip to Chapel Hill by Virginia Tech who defeated Carolina when they met last month.
