2008 W1A Conclave Report
Boy I would not have thought that the OA in Oregon would produce so much stuff for one conclave. This section will have a new? designation next year so why not go out with a bang. There were 10 patch issues, 1 Hat Pin and 1 Ink Pen. Actually there were 11 patch issues but one was a special one of a kind patch issued to a very special person so I will not count that one. The conclave this year was held at Camp Lutherwood near Eugene, Oregon. Lutherwood is a Lutheran Church Camp that had a nice facility for a conclave.
Now for the issues. The first four are based off the patch design for this year. The black border was the participant (500 made — sold out), the Silver Border was the staff issue (200 — all gone), The Gold Border was the Auction Donor (100 — a few left). and the Green Mylar Border was the collector set issue (100 made).
There were two spirit award patches that went behind the regular staff patch and participant patch. Unless you knew what these patches were for it would end up in a “whatzit” box. The white background patch was for the participants. The light blue background one was for the staff.
The hat pin was included in the collector set or you could buy it separately There were many left over. The ink pen was issued for the auction and was given away like candy. The only way the get the auction donor patch was to donate to the auction. That took $50 dollars worth of patches. If you donated $300 dollars that qualified you for the “Patron” jacket patch. The auction raised over $10,000 dollars this year.
There was a chenille issued (50 made) which looked like a beaver (Go Oregon State) and a very limited edition jacket patch (12 Made). The jacket patch required getting on a list compiled by the “Merchandising Committee” ahead of the conclave. No extras of the special edition jacket patch were available (Made only the quantity needed).
This year the Guardian Level of donations was established in the section. That ideal was partially my brainchild. You had to purchase more that $1000 dollars in the auction to qualify. Four people reached that level. I did not, to the relief of my wife. The next conclave will be the charter conclave of our new designation so a bunch of patches will be forthcoming for that one as well.
I am attending the W1C conclave later this month and I hope the have a great time there also. I will be teaching the patch trading class. Come on up and heckle me.

Hi Jeff. Can you find out how many of these were made:
“There were two spirit award patches that went behind the regular staff patch and participant patch. Unless you knew what these patches were for it would end up in a “whatzit†box. The white background patch was for the participants. The light blue background one was for the staff.”
You also missed the Roy Walters special guardian with “2002 2008″ 1 made.
