1986 SE-7 Conclave
Nayawin Rar lodge hosted the 1986 Old North State (SE-7) Conclave at Camp Tuscarora. Eleven lodges from North Carolina, all of the staet except for Tsali 134 which was part of “Dixie” were in attendance.
This years conclave patch had a rather simple design. The traditional representation of Nayawin Rar’s night hawk totem is the principal part of the design. On some level this works very well with the theme for this conclave, “Adventures of the Spirit”. I like it.
There was also conclave neckerchief produced. The patch design was adapted for silk screened onto a light brown neckerchief.
I expect there were also several other items produced including a jacket patch, mug, or bolo tie but I do not have any of these items. If you can confirm anything else that was made please let me know.
Two lodges issued conclave flaps this year. A third lodge had an item that might be considered a neckerchief.
Nayawin Rar 296, as the host or service lodge, issued a flap for their service corps. This is listed as 296 S11 and is their first conclave item. It would be many years until this lodge again issued a piece for a section conclave.
Like in 1985, Catawba 459 issued a flap for their conclave delegates. This is listed as 459 S25. It would become customary for Catawba to issue at least one new piece for their conclave delegates each year.
The colorful cloth shown to the left came out of Eswau Huppeday 560 and was used by their conclave delegates this year. I’m not completely certain this should be considered a neckerchief. Nothing on it ties lodge 560 and the piece appears to be homemade. I wonder if it’s better considered as some sort of “spirit rag” or something. However, the lodge did produce neckerchiefs for their conclave delegates recent years both before and after, that appear to clearly be issues from this lodge. So I have labeled this “N4.8?” on this site.
Is there anything else I missed?
