Croatan 117 S68?

Croatan recently celebrated its 70th anniversary with the issuance of a new lodge flap.     There was also a activity patch for their recent Fall Fellowship with a similar design that I will highlight in a later post.     Thanks to Greg Grimes for the images of both pieces.

The design is rather simple.     It features a representation of the lodge’s traditional totem used on their early arrowhead patches.   There is a large 70 to denote the anniversary.

It does not denote any connection to lodge 70!     ;) I’m just waiting for someone not very knowledgeable to try to list this on eBay as a lodge 70 issue.

The listing data for this issue are as follows:

Issue Bdr Color/Type Bkgd Name fdl/BSA Comments
S68? BLU R YOR BLK YOR fdl; 1938-2008 (70th Anniversary)

  1. Greg Grimes Says:

Just to be contrary this morning, I say the background color is a dark yellow :-)

  2. John E. Pannell Says:

When I first drafted this post, I called the background color dark yellow. Then thinking that they meant to replicate the color scheme of the early arrowheads, I changed my mind and called it “yellow-orange”.

I may yet change my mind again.

Either way, either choice would describe the issue sufficiently well for id purposes.
