2008 National Officer Patches
Last year I had a series of posts on patches issued in honor of those Arrowmen who have served as regional or national officers in the Order of the Arrow. Since then another year has past and another group of young men are finishing their term of office. It’s time to update the list of National Officer patches to include those issued for this year’s officers.
The 2008 National Chief, Jake Wellman, is a member of Yah-Tah-Hey-Si-Kess lodge. The lodge issued a flap in honor of his service which I have tentatively listed as “S67?”, pictured at the top of this post. The image is not the best, so it’s hard to make out the black text on the black background underneath the lodge name that states why this patch was issued. In keeping with recent custom, I have heard there is a second flap that can only be obtained from the National Chief, but I do not yet have an image of this piece. Please confirm or deny this second issue, and send an image if you can.
The 2008 National Vice-Chief, Benjamin Stilwill, is a member of Gabe-Shi-Win-Gi-Ji-Kens lodge. A round patch, listed on this site as “R1?” and pictured to the right, in his honor. I am not certain this is a lodge issue. Can anyone confirm or deny this?
I also have word that at least one flap has been issued by the lodge for him. I do not have an image of this issue yet. If you can send one, please do so I can add it to the site.
The 2008 Central Region Chief, Tyler Elliott, is a brother of Tarhe lodge. I do not yet know of any patches issued in his honor.
The 2008 Northeast Region Chief, Patrick Rooney, hails from Amagamek Wipit lodge. The lodge issued two flaps from Mr. Rooney. The yellow bordered “S119?” was freely available without restriction. The gold mylar bordered “S120?” could only be had from Mr. Rooney.
The 2008 Southern Region Chief, Mason Thomas is from Muscogee lodge. His lodge issued one flap, which I have labeled “S36?” in his honor
The 2008 Western Region Chief, Mark Hendricks, is a brother of Wa-La-Moot-Kin lodge. So far I know of one flap the lodge has issued in his honor. It is pictured here and listed by me as the “S52?”.
If you know of any other patches issued for this year’s national officers, or can supply images of what I am missing, please let me know. Thanks.

There was a members only flap issued by the lodge that Honored Jake. I will obtain a scan of it when I have a chance. Gary B. from that lodge let me know of its existance.
In the December 2008 issue of the ISCA Journal will be a article about collecting National Officer Patches. It will describe how and when it got started along with a check list of all known National Chief, Nat’l Vice Chief and Region Chiefs patches.
Bill Chin, Jeff Posey, Steve Silbiger and myself researched and compiled all of the issues together to form a checklist of NOP.
The ben stilwill round is a lodge issue, he also has 2 other issues, a blue border flap that 300 were made and a gold border flap where 100 were made
Jake’s lodge also had two ArrowCorps5 patches that had “Home of the National Chief” on them. W-6E also produced a section patch in honor of Jake. Tyler Elliot, of Tarhe Lodge #292, and the Central Region Chief, also (albeit finally) has a flap as well.
