1958 Area 3D Pow Wow
The lodges of Area 3D met in 1958 at Camp Weygadt in the Delaware Water Gap in Columbia, New Jersey. The Pow Wow was hosted by Ah-Pace Lodge #58. This was the first meeting at Weygadt and the first hosted by Ah-Pace Lodge. It is also the only Region 3 area meeting for which the host lodge number matched the last two digits of the year.
A neckerchief and a slide were issued for this event. The slide was green plastic with the wolf totem of Ah-Pace lodge.
The neckerchief was pale yellow with a matching chain-stitched edge and what I believe to be an ironed-on design. The main part of the design is green with an outlined cross and the words “Safety Good Turn 1958″ and “Be Prepared”. The red arrow and lettering specific to the Area 3D event appear to have been added to an existing logo to produce this neckerchief.
Also here is a picture of the transfer design that was used for the neckerchief. An additional oddity about the neckerchief: it appears to be made of two pieces of fabric, with a seam running right down the middle of the design. This resembles the construction of a two-colored half-and-half neckerchief, but the 1958 3D neckerchief is a single solid color.
A final note: the Ah-Pace Lodge N1 neckerchief includes the lettering “3-D” to designate the lodge’s area. As far as I know, however, the “58″ on the neckerchief refers only to the lodge number and not to the 1958 Pow Wow at Weygadt.
