Yokahu 506 S61? (image number 50,000)

Yesterday evening, I celebrated the start of 2009 by adding the fifty thousandth image to this site! Even with this many images there are probably still several thousand OA items that are not yet pictured here.

A new issue for Yokahu 506, sent to me by Jeff Goldsmith, gets the honor of being considered image number 50,000. This is the lodge’s 2008 “standard” flap which I have listed as “S61?”. Yokahu lodge has maintained a traditional flap design as their standard flap for about 55 years now. Although some changes have been made over the years — twill to solid, cut edge to rolled, Swiss to computer style embroidery, etc… — the basic design of this flap has remained unchanged for decades.   I find some pleasure and a small bit of irony that a flap like this garners a special place of sorts on this site.     I pay tribute to the proliferation of OA issues and growth of this site, by picturing a flap whose basic design has not changed in a half century.

Feel free to help get me started on the next 50,000 images by sending scans of any items not yet pictured or listed to me at jpannell@oaimages.com.
