John,
I was watching the auction and people did find it.

Eight unique bidders drove the price up from the opening bid of $500.00, three of them bid over $1000. A tougher First Flap.

Through an old program I have that is no longer supported I show a third sale in Oct. 8, 2004 from the same eBay seller which went for $1425.

Than you show an $799 sale and finally the $500 (11-4-04) within the span of a month and the third appeared to be used, but I have a very low resolution scan.

There was likely a degree of market saturation as well.

It would seem that for the older, classic pieces, there is still a strong market even in these troubled times.
