iSash: Videos and Now Patches
The Coosa Shows crew produced an excellent video called iSash to increase “Brotherhood conversion”, where Ordeal members in the Order of the Arrow seal them membership and become Brotherhood members. In my opinion the video is well done and rivals anything produced by the Boy Scouts of America or the Order of the Arrow (OA).
Coosa lodge has adopted the style of the iSash video and produced four two part sets. Each set follows a similar scheme with a silver mylar border, a bold monochrome background, and a Scout in silhouette wearing a white sash. Three of the sets depict the princples of the OA: Brotherhood, Cheefulness, and Service. The fourth set, pictured, depicts all three principles. Thanks to Chris Brightwell for supplying the images of these items.
The “Brotherhood” set is particularly meaningful to members of Coosa Lodge. It memorializes Mr. Don Burt, a charter member of Coosa Lodge and a long-time member of Kaskanampo Lodge #310. Mr. Burt was initially inducted into Unami lodge.
Each of these sets were manufactured as a single piece. Following established precedent these will probably be listed as two patches: a flap (S) and chevron (X).
For those who haven’t yet seen it, here is the iSash video:
In addition to the iSash video, Coosa Shows also produced a series of videos explaining various aspects of the OA’s programs geared towards new members. You can find these and other videos at the Coosa Show’s YouTube channel. You can also purchase a DVD of these videos at lulu.com (http://www.lulu.com/content/881511).

I love these patches, how they look, the color and the other elements that went into these patches. I was sitting in a class one day and the idea hit me for the patch set, using scenes from iSash with the brightly colored backgrounds. We later incorporated the concept of 3 singles, each representing Brotherhood, Cheerfulness and Service, with the 4th representing all 3. The silhouettes come straight from the video itself, they are screen grabs. The colors where also from the video. Ben Killen, the video director for the iSash project, helped with the design by adding the detail to the sashes. If you look closely, you will see ghosted on each sash, either the Ordeal sash, Brotherhood sash, or Vigil Honor sash. We bounced the design around to a lot of people in our lodge for assistance and received valuable input form Dr. James Flatt, Larry Faulkner, Mark Hayes, Julian Simmons, Tony Myers, Tim Hall, Chris Brightwell, Matt Sheets, Ben Killen. Only 750 were made of each set. So for the Coosa Lodge, get them while you can.
As far as the iSash video goes, many Arrowman have seen it. It premiered at the 2006 NOAC, played at all 5 ArrowCorps5 sites in 2008, and has been approximately 9,000 times on youtube. It’s also be shown at several Lodge events across the country and several Conclaves too. So, making a patch set from the video just seemed natural.
