Mystery Patch: Not an Issue of Unami Lodge

1981 W-3A Conclave Participant Segment
Darrell Wessinger recently posted an image on patch-l of an unusual patch he recently acquired, pictured at the top of the post. He thought this was possibly an unlisted issue of Unami 1. That seemed like a reasonable conclusion given how the number “1″ and what appears to be Unami’s turtle features prominently in the design. If nothing else it would be a good starting point for research into this item.
Craig Leighty was able to quickly tell the list that any such conclusion was wrong. This item was issued by W-3A at their 1981 conclave as a participation segment. He reports there was also a green bordered patch with the same design that was used for the Council of Chiefs.
Identifying patches is not always easy. Some times things are not what they seem to be.
