Tar Heel Video of the Day – 4/4/09

Posted in Tar Heel Basketball by John E. Pannell on April 4th, 2009 at 5:50 am

Pandemonium breaks out on Franklin St. in Chapel Hill when UNC wins a “big game”.   The celebrations generally remain under control, but law enforcement officials are out in force.

Local officials know the celebrations after UNC beat the team that must not be named was only a warm up for what to expect should UNC win it all this weekend.       The Chapel Hill police department, the local sheriff’s department, NC state police and campus security department will all have extra officers on duty through late Monday night.

I was in Chapel Hill in 2005 the morning after UNC won the championship. I went to one of the local eateries for breakfast before doing some shopping. Students were still awake from the celebrations of the night before.

Should the Tar Heels win this year, I already have plans to be in Chapel Hill Tuesday morning. I’m not nearly crazy enough to go there Monday night!
