2009-s-4-conference-pocket-patchThis past weekend, over 1,000 Arrowmen from over the state of Florida and southern Georgia  met at Sand Hill Scout Reservation for the annual gathering of the eleven lodges  of Section  S-4 for the annual Conference*.     This year’s Conference was hosted by Timuquan Lodge 340 (West Central Florida Council), at the camp located outside Brooksville.   This was the Section’s return to the configuration of 1993-1997, with the eight lodges of peninsular Florida (85, 200, 237, 239, 265, 326, 340, 564) and the three from southern Georgia (229, 353, and 545).

2009-s-4-conference-jacket-patchThe Conference Trading Post was brimming with the items whose sales help keep the registration fee so low ($20).   Along with the event patch, there was a jacket patch, neckerchief (the jacket patch on a WHT cloth), a leather patch, pin, slide, bolo, buckle, and chenille

The Vigil Reunion patch was available in quantities where almost anyone with $5 could purchase one.   The toughest item was the patch for the VIA (Very Important Arrowman) Luncheon, a NOAC-style invitation-only event for selected new Arrowmen.   Only 100 were made, one per person.

2009-s-4-conference-golf-tournament-patchFor the third straight year, the pre-Conference Golf Tournament had a patch (no special Section golf ball this year).

Over the next several days I’ll be writing about the latest issues from the individual Florida lodges, starting with the host items from Timuquan 340.

* We call it a Conference.   Most of the rest of the world has “conclaves”.   Tomato-tomahto.
