I had originally wanted to post this on July 4th but just never wrote it up in time.

Independence Day in the United States is frequently celebrated with fireworks displays, both those run by various municipalities and those those of varying degrees of legality in backyards. Fireworks displays have been featured on several OA patches in recent years. Here’s a few that come to mind.

Since I was watching the fireworks from Washington, D.C. on TV last night, the first patch to show here is the S56 from Amangamek Wipit lodge. This was the second design in the lodge’s monument series and was issued along with the gold mylar bordered S57. A similar view was also depicted on the lodge’s S90, issued for the 2005 National Jamboree.

Next up is the S82 from Pellissippi 230, issued for the lodge’s 60 anniversary. Semialachee 239 also used a fireworks theme on their 60th anniversary patches (S44, S44.5, S45, X3 andX4).

Catawba lodge used the fireworks theme on their 2002 NOAC set (S71+X1).     The set depicts a fireworks display over Charlotte, NC..

Owasippe 7 depicted fireworks over the Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park for the 2005 Jamboree set.     The design is rather minimalist in nature and also features outlines of several prominent buildings in the Chicago skyline, using “glow in the dark” thread.

I know of at least one other patch featuring fireworks that will be issued later this year.   It will be very majestic and magical when it comes out.     Yes, that’s a hint.

These are just a few examples that immediately come to mind. I’m sure there are others. Feel free to add them in the comments.
