Timuquan Lodge 340 NOAC 2009 & the Tampa Bay Rays
Timuquan Lodge 340 has released their set of stuff for the 2009 National Conference. The items made for their contingent celebrate the 2008 American League champion Tampa Bay Rays*, located within the borders of the lodge.**
The set includes a jacket patch (340-J-9?; pictured at the top of this entry), a single flap (340-S-58?), a double-sided pocket dangle patch (340-X-15?) with the design of the Rays’ jersey, and a double-sided chenille (340-C-5?), featuring Raymond, the team’s mascot.

Timuquan recently began their 2009-2010 themed series of patches, “Village Scenes”, with the Summer Ordeal.

* Not to be confused with the Tampa Bay Devil Rays.
** OK, a little geography/ sports history background. Unlike other franchises named for cities, states, or regions, the Tampa Bay franchises are named for a body of water, with two major cities, Tampa and St. Petersburg. The baseball Tampa Bay Rays play at Tropicana Park, located in St. Petersburg. The NFL Tampa Bay Buccaneers play at Raymond James Stadium, in Tampa.
And to show that not everything makes sense, the National Hockey League Tampa Bay Lightning play at the St. Pete Times Forum, located in Tampa.

So are these the first patches on record to commemorate WORLD SERIES LOSERS?
In Florida, yes (see what O-Shot-Caw 265 made after 1997 and 2003). I’m certain that we will never see any World Series items (winner or loser) from the Baltimore area.
Since we’re on the baseball theme…
Maybe Suanhacky will make some flaps for the NY Mets. They would have to let out some ERRORS!
Just a minor correction. It’s Tropicana Field (not Park). See the 1998 NOAC set. But to make it more confusing, it’s a dome with artificial turf. So no actual field anywhere.
P.S. – The St. Pete Times Forum is named after a newspaper, not a city.
