Lodge 104: 2010 Conclave Issues
Occoneechee lodge issued three pieces for delegates to the 2010 SR-7B conclave. Thanks again to Wesley Drennan for these issues.
Being from North Carolina, the brothers of Occoneechee decided to celebrate “good eats” with a “BBQ at Conclave” theme this year. The lodge issued a black border trader flap, a restricted orange border flap for delegates and an oval with black border. The oval also features paratroopers, a nod to Fort Bragg located within the council and lodge, and the exhortation “Give to the troops”. While some may not appreciate the levity in these designs they may be happy to note a general lack of purple (except in the thunderbird’s head).

Oh but we made up for the lack of purple in this piece by putting plenty of it in the Jambo flap!
The lodge will have to do something to make up for the Jambo flap. Someone needs to take the purple crayon for the new patch designer. I guess there is a positive side- Occoneechee might just have the most vicious totem in the section.
I mean think about it… Croatan has a deer, Wahissa has a pipe, Klahican has a Venus fly trap, Tsoiotsi has a red tail hawk, Nayawin Rar has a night hawk. An evil mythical ECU thunderbird with teeth can tear any of those up. I think Pirates should be the theme for the 2011 Conclave at Raven Knob. Pirates with big scary mean Thunderbird parrots.
The best part of this patch is the Thunderbird’s uncanny resemblance to Foghorn Leghorn- http://www.bloodhoundrealty.com/BloodhoundBlog/KeithTheWanker.jpg traced straight from a book. One can only wonder of the Tazmanian Devil was the inspiration for the “modernized caricature version†of the thunderbird.
I think a dab of Carolina Blue should be added to some of the patches. Maybe even some NC State red or some Duke blue (it really pains me as a Carolina grad to suggest that), as John points out this patch pays tribute to Fort Bragg, located in the lodge, so why not pay tribute to schools actually in the lodge?
