Lodge of the National Chief Patches: Update

Posted in Patch Collecting by John E. Pannell on February 12th, 2012 at 7:46 pm

Back in 2007 I wrote several posts highlighting the patches issued by the various lodges over the years for the national and regional officers of the Order of the Arrow.   The first of these posts covered patches issued for the Lodge of the National Chief.   I also published an update for the 2008 National Officer patches.    More updates are sorely needed.    I start here with patches issued for the recent National Chiefs.

Shawnee 51 S28?

Shawnee 51 S28?

Jack O’Neill, from Shawnee Lodge,  was elected as the 2009 National Chief. Two flaps were issued by his lodge in honor of his election. Both flaps share the same basic design.  One has  a red border (listed here as S28?), and the other a black border (S30?).It has been customary in recent years that one flap was solely distributed by the officer to those who have helped him in his duties and as personal favors.  I do not know which of these flaps, if any, was issued for that purpose.

Chippewa 29 S42?

Chippewa 29 S42?

The 2010 National Chief was Brad Lichota from Chippewa Lodge.   Two flaps were issued by his lodge.  One has a white border (S42?) and the other, distributed only by Brad, has a silver mylar border.

Jonathan Hills of Tonkawa Lodge was the 2011 National Chief.  Two flaps were issued by Tonkawa lodge in his honor; one with a SMY border, and the other with a RED border.

    John,

Here’s an update for you in regard to the 2010 Nat’l Chief Brad Lichota. Brad attended Occoneechee 104′s Pow-Wow in 2010. I had the honor of personally meeting him while working in our Trading Post. He gave me one of his “personal issue” flaps so there were actually 2 flaps issued by the then Chippewa Lodge 29 to honor Brad.

In all actuality, The now defunct Chippewa Lodge 29 which is the Noquet Lodge 29 now, made 3 patches for Brad. The third which is the rarest, was a Fundraising patch for the Lodge.

What did the fundraiser look like? I suppose John needs a scan.
