Atta Kulla Kulla 185 eX2009-4?

Atta Kulla Kulla lodge recently held their Fall Fellowship and released their fourth event item for the year (eX2009-4?).     Thanks again to Brad Hutto for keeping us informed.

This patch is the fourth piece in a set.     The other pieces are the eX2009-1? (2009 Spring Fellowship,   eX2009-2? (2009 Lodge Cookout), and X21? (2009 Dixie Fellowship).   The completed design pictures a whippoorwill superimposed upon a compass rose.

I guess it’s only fitting this patch depicts the whippoorwill’s tail for an even held near the “tail end” of the year!

Atta Kulla Kulla: 2009 OA Service Corps Patch

Brad Hutto sends word of an interesting new issue from Atta Kulla Kulla lodge.     As is readily apparent this was issued for the 2009 OA Service Corps.     There are some aspects of this patch that might confuse those not from the lodge’s immediate area.

I would appreciate some input from the brothers of this lodge, or other knowledgeable people, to confirm some information.     Was this item issued by the lodge or Blue Ridge Council (BRC)?     If issued by the council, then this item doesn’t get listed under Atta Kulla Kulla lodge.   Was this item for a specific event?     If so, what was it? The answer would determine whether this should be listed as an event item (eR2009-…) or a lodge issue (R…).

Atta Kulla Kulla 185 eX2009-2?

Brad Hutto sends word of the latest event issue from Atta Kulla Kulla lodge, issued for the lodge’s cookout.     This is the third of   series of patches issued for the lodge’s 2009 events and the 2009 Dixie Fellowship.     Previous issues were the 2009 Spring Fellowship (eX2009-1?) and 2009 Dixie Fellowship (X21?) patches.   When completed, the set will depict a whippoorwill superimposed upon a compass rose.

Just a very small portion of the whippoorwill is shown at the point of this patch.

Atta Kulla Kulla 185 S36?

Since I could not be at NOAC this year, I am finding out about NOAC issues later than some of you out there.     Brad Hutto sends word of the three issues from Atta Kulla Kulla lodge.

The lodge issued a two part set with a grey border as their “trader” patches.   There was also a SMY bordered flap, using the same design as the trader flap, that was designated their delegate piece.     These have been added to my   NC and SC 2009 NOAC checklist.

Atta Kulla Kulla 185 Ca-nu-pa Chapter eX2009?

This is another of several images Brad Hutto recently sent of new issues from South Carolina.   This time, we have a chapter event patch from Atta Kulla Kulla lodge.

As in 2008 Ca-nu-pa  chapter issued a patch for the District Camporee, called a “retreat” in 2009, that they ran.   I do not know if a second staff patch was issued as in 2008.

Atta Kulla Kulla 185 L4?

Here’s another patch that has managed to escape listing here for many years.     Thanks to Johnny Smith for the image.

In 1990 Atta Kulla Kulla lodge issued three leather patches for the OA’s 75th and the lodge’s 50th anniversaries.     Each of these had a similar design and were differentiated by the use of either an Ordeal, Brotherhood, or Vigil arrow.     There was also a fourth patch, pictured, with a design similar to the L1 but with the word “Dixie” added.

Atta Kulla Kulla 185 eX2008-3?

Brad Hutto recently sent me images of recent issues from some of the South Carolina lodges, not connected with this year’s Dixie Fellowship.     Included among them were some 2008 and 2009 events issues and the 2009 whippoorwill from Atta Kulla Kulla lodge.

The first two of these are the remaining 2008 events issues.         These were issued for the lodge’s Fall Fellowship and Lodge Cookout (pictured).   Both feature an anthropomorphized whippoorwill.

The 2009 Spring Fellowship patch (eX2009-1?) has a rather odd design when seen by itself.     However, when joined with all the 2009 events patches and the lodge’s Dixie Fellowship issue (X21?) a large round design featuring the whippoorwill on a compass rose will be created.

Atta Kulla Kulla 185 X21?

Atta Kulla Kulla lodge was one of three lodges in SR-5 to issue only an odd-shape for this year’s Dixie Fellowship, along with Tomo Chi-Chi 119 and Muscogee 221.

Their issue is a rather simple design featuring the lodge’s whippoorwill totem.     This is a part of a four patch set, with the lodge’s events issues for this year.     When pieced together, all four patches will form a large circular design with a whippoorwill in the center.

Barring any late issues, I should now be done reporting on new issues from the conclaves in this part of the Southeast. There’s still more new issues to report on, though.

Atta Kulla Kulla lodge has joined the growing list of lodges that have issued a flap for this summer’s ArrowCorps⁵ program. The flap has a neat design, featuring a landscape that could be from the upstate area of South Carolina. The traditional representation of the lodge’s whippoorwill has been altered to outfit him for trail crew work. Thanks to Darrell Green for this image
