Lodge 188: 2007 LLD Patches

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on July 3rd, 2008 at 5:02 am

188 2007 LLD PatchThanks to Larry Banks for sending me word of a few new issues from Itibapishe Iti Hollo lodge.

Itibapishe Iti Hollo lodge issued two patches for their 2007 LLDC.     The BLU bordered participant patch is pictured here.

My events listings for this lodge are probably very incomplete as   I don’t receive much information from this lodge about its issues.     The tentative catalog numbers for these items will probably need to be changed if I receive word of other 2007 events issues from this lodge.

When I heard the learn'd astronomer,
When the proofs, the figure, were ranged in columns before me,

How soon unaccountable I became tired and sick,
Till rising and gliding out I wander'd off by myself,
In the mystical moist night-air, and from time to time,

Lodge 188: Cooking Crew Patch

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on July 2nd, 2008 at 5:02 am

188 J3Thanks to Larry Banks for sending me word of a few new issues from Itibapishe Iti Hollo lodge.

First up is a new “Cooking Crew” patch.     The first two Cooking Crew patches, J1 and J2, are tough and valuable pieces for those who collect this small lodge.     I do not know if this patch is of similar rarity.

This new patch uses the same general design as the lodge’s J1.     Note the cleverly placed fleur d’lis, positioned as one of the legs of the stove.

Lodge 188: To Support the Troops

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on May 10th, 2008 at 12:02 am

188 S55?Itibapishe Iti Hollo wants you to support the troops.

This lodge issued five patches for the 2008 Dixie Fellowship. There was the flap pictured here and four pocket patches, each depicting a branch of the US armed forces. All the patches, including the flap, were issued with a pocket loop. Thanks to Greg Grimes for sending images of these pieces.

The tank is for the US Army. The USS Alexandria represents the US Navy. A bulldog depicts the US Marine Corps. A fighter plane was used the US Air Force. As far as I know, no patch was issued for the US Coast Guard.

Lodge 188: Possible Concord Chapter Items

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on March 30th, 2008 at 12:05 am

188 Concord eA1989Chris Jensen recently acquired a collection that had several pieces in it that might be of interest to lodge 188 collectors. They might be issues from this lodge’s Concord Chapter. Like a couple of other recent posts here, I throw these out for your comments and discussion.

The first item, pictured at the top of this post, has the strongest claim to being an issue from lodge 188′s Concord Chapter. Even though it does refer to the Concord District Spring Camporee it is conceivable the O.A. Callout was an chapter or lodge run event at this camporee. Beyond referring to an event specific to the Order of the Arrow program, the patch also prominently features an Ordeal sash oddly draped across a backpack.

Lodge 188: Missing 2006 Dixie Flap

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on June 8th, 2007 at 12:36 am

I accidentally left the 2006 Dixie flap out of my listings for this lodge.     I’m guessing this should be S53 and have renumbered the 2006 NOAC patches accordingly so as to make room for this flap

(Ed. note.   Post editted on 6/17/07 to add image supplied by Woody Woodruff.   Thanks.)

Lodge 188: 1994 “NCAC” Flap

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on May 15th, 2007 at 4:00 am

188nc94-ncac.jpgDavid Cody and Jimmy Arthurs tipped me off to this patch from 188.   It is the design of the 1994 NOAC flap from this lodge, where NOAC is misspelled “NCAC”.   They believe it should be listed as an issue.     I’m more skeptical.

They say that a large number of this lodge’s 1994 NOAC flaps were issued with NOAC misspelled “NCAC” and claim to have traded for several of these pieces.     Others were corrected after the fact and show signs of being restitched.     They say they informed the North Carolina Blue Book editor of this piece and he has declined to list it.

Lodge 188: Recent Odd-Shapes Untangled

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on May 8th, 2007 at 4:13 am

I  recently wrote about Itibapishe Iti Hollo’s recent Dixie Fellowship issues.     In that post, I had said I was uncertain of the number of one of the pieces because I was confused about recent NOAC issues from this lodge.     I thought I knew the flaps well, but the odd-shaped patches left me confused.

Jimmy  Arthurs and David Cody were able  to dispel my confusion and supply images of most of the recent issues.   Thanks, guys.

Lodge 188: 2007 Dixie Fellowship Issues

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on May 5th, 2007 at 2:38 am

“All we are saying is, ‘Give peace a chance.’”

Returnng to the days of flower power, peace signs and minibuses, Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188 has issued two patches for the 2007 Dixie Fellowship.     Apparently the lodge adopted some sort of “peace” or 1960s type theme for this year’s conclave.

Two patches were issued.   One was shaped like a 1960s minibus.   The other was a cut-out round.

Itibapishe Iti Hollo 2006 Events Patches

Posted in Itibapishe Iti Hollo 188,SR-5 Lodges by John E. Pannell on January 5th, 2007 at 5:20 am

Over the next few weeks, I will be posting a year end round  up of lodge events issues for this past year. For some lodges I have no information, so unless someone tells me what event patches their lodge has made this past year the update will be very short.

As far as I know, Itibapishe Iti Hollo issued no events patches this past year.     In fact, I know of none issued by this lodge since 1998.     If you know of any, please send data and scans of them  to me.

April Fool!

It should go without saying that my post about this site being sold to a Google/eBay partnership was my annual April Fool's post. I have no plans at this time to give up or sell this web site. Long time readers will know this has become quite the tradition here and I usually start planning the posts several months in advance. The most famous (infamous?) of these was 2008's post concerning the abolishment of lodge names. It still creates difficulty from time to time for those in authority in the OA and BSA due to the inability of some to detect obvious (in my opinion) satire.

OAImages Soon Under New Ownership

This post contains important information regarding the future of this website. Please read carefully.

Many have noticed that I have found it hard to maintain this website for quite some time now. Due to various reasons, some of them beyond my control, updating the price guide regularly has become all but impossible. Things have become a bit less chaotic, but after 15 years this has become a chore. I also know that there will come the day when control of this site will need to be passed to another. With all that in mind, I have been considering various options for the future of OAImages. In the midst of this, a several months ago I was contacted by someone who made me an offer that was too good to resist. After many months of negotiations I am now free to announce that this site has been purchased by a combined partnership of Google and eBay. This will be effective July 1, 2012.

Tschipey Achtu Lodge: Update

Back in 2010 I announced the formation of Tschipey Achtu lodge as a result of the merger of Ty-Ohni 95 and Ganeodiyo 417. At the time I was told they would use the number 397, which is also their council number. This created a bit of controversy as that number is currently in use by Chilantakoba lodge in Louisiana. I also announced their first flap. Other than a 2010 Jamboree issue no further news from this lodge made it to me.

I was talking with a Roger Ward last night who was at the recent Winter South Carolina Trade-O-Ree. He tells me it has not been quiet in that lodge. The use of 397 was problematic. Many wanted to choose a different number. Some wanted to claim the number zero, but that was not well received given the special place Unami 1 holds in the Order of the Arrow. The Scout Executive, I am told, stepped in and told the lodge they will use the lower number from the two merged lodges.

The lodge is now known as Tschipey Achtu 95. I have updated the site to reflect this current information. Several new issues have also been added.

An OAImages iPad App?

Some of those who know me personally, know that I have gone over to the "Dark Side" and have started using Apple products. I bought an iMac a couple of months ago and just recently got an iPad. My brother is trying to tell me that my Droid's days are numbered.

I really like my iPad and started day dreaming about an OAImages app for it. I have no idea how to go about writing this and it would take me into an entirely new area from what I know. It's not something that would happen easily or soon. Here's your chance to give feedback. What do you think about an OAImages app? What would you put in it? Do you have any thoughts on how it would be distributed or how much it would cost?

I have added special pages on this site for the 2011 Indian Summer and 2011 Summit Corps. I still have a few images to add but most of what I have images for is now on the site. Thanks for Rick Horne for most of these images.

To view these items, go to OA Images: National and Special Events Patches page and select either of these events from the "Other Specialties" drop down box. Read the Full Post

Coming out of Hiding About April 1st

It's kind of odd to come out of hiding to post about a topic like this.

I'm hearing from some brothers that there have been gullible readers to this blog over the years. I would have thought it was obvious from the context of the posts, but the various posts made on this blog throughout the years that have appeared on APRIL FIRST are all satire. None of them are true. Read them and chuckle but please do not complain to your friendly OA National Committee members, Scout Executives, lodge advisers, or official website administrators about the "changes" that are "announced" in them.
