Lodge 296: Region Chief Flap, "MVE"
Greg Grimes recently sent me this image of two RED bordered 2012 Home of the Region Chief flaps, showing something he noticed about them. Apparently there may be thin and thick letter variations in this issue. To me this is not significant enough to be listed as a variety. It is for cases like this that my site uses the notation, "MVE" (minor variations exist).
I told Greg I would share this image with fellow collectors. What do you think? Chase after this variation or not; that is completely up to you!

Breast Cancer Patch Checklist
Now that there is a growing list of breast cancer related patches as well as a devoted group of collectors chasing after them, I thought now is a good time to put together a list of those issues. I now know of at least 18 issues from 12 lodges, including a key fob and one chapter issue.

Ahoalan-Nachpikin Issues Breast Cancer Flap
Ahoalan-Nachpikin lodge from Memphis, TN has joined the growing list of lodges (and one chapter) that have issued patches in support of breast cancer research. As with many others, this issue is also a pink monochrome. Thanks to Nick DeMarco for supplying this image.
If you know of any other patches that have been issued for this cause, please either send the images to me or comment on this post below. Thanks.

2012 NOAC Issues Page Added
I have just added a page to this site showing lodge issues for this Summer's National Order of the Arrow Conference (NOAC). You may view it here:
http://www.oaimages.com/noac12.shtml
Presently on a few issues are shown. If you know of any that should be added, please let me know. This list should grow rapidly as we get closer to NOAC.

Skyuka 270 S43?+X25?
Skyuka lodge appears to be in the running for the most NOAC patches issued by a lodge in the Carolinas. Back in the Spring of 2008 the lodge issued four two part sets as fundraisers for this event, with a design that was reminiscent of a classic Coca-Cola commercial. Now Brad Hutto tells me the lodge has issued three more sets: a trader set, a delegate set, and a set for Founder’s Day.* This brings them to a total of 14 pieces for NOAC, so far easily the most for any lodge from the Carolinas.
The first of these sets, S42?+X24?, is designated as their trader set. The flap features a dragon. The matching dangle is a sword shaped patch. Beyond the obvious “Skyuka” in the middle of the name, Brad did not know the meaning of “BRSKYUKANGR”.

Skyuka 270 Cherokee Chapter A1?
This is yet another new issue sent to me courtesy of Brad Hutto. This time we have a new chapter patch from Cherokee Chapter of Skyuka lodge.
The simple but effective design shows a map of Cherokee chapter, bisected by the Broad River, including the cities of Gaffney and Blacksburg, South Carolina.
The listing data for this patch are as follows:

Skyuka 270 X23?
Brad Hutto recently sent word of two new odd shaped patches from Skyuka lodge. One was the lodge’s 2008 Executive Committee and the other for the lodge’s 65th anniversary in 2009.
The Executive Committee patch uses the same design scheme as the 2008 events issues. The most significant change is that the black border has been changed to light gray.
The 65th anniversary patch is in the shape of the central part of the lodge’s double headed thunderbird totem that has appeared on many of the lodge’s issues. The lodge name and the year, 2009, are ghosted in the blue background. The fleur d’lis is ghosted in red.
The listing data for these two issues are as follows:

Skyuka 270 ZS2?
Larry Banks sent me an image a few weeks ago of what we believe is a fake, or unauthorized issue of some sort from Skyuka lodge.
No issue known issue from this lodge uses this color scheme — white cut edge border with a white background. However, the S2 has a gray border with pale blue background. The creator of this patch may have patterned his work after the S2 image on this site. It is rather dark and someone not familiar with the descriptions might assume the patch had a white border and background. This leads me to the disturbing conclusion that the creator of this fake may have based his work upon an imperfect understanding of my site.

Skyuka 270 eR1992-3?
This is the second post for images recently sent to me by Brad Hutto. This one focuses on events issues.
The first item is a 1992 Fall Fellowship patch. It is similar to the eR1992-2 from this lodge except the border has been changed from green to white. I have listed this as “eR1992-3?”
The second issue is a variation on the 2007 Banquet patch, previously listed as “eA2007-2?”. On the earlier item the “2007″ is light blue while it is rendered in dark blue on this more recent item. I believe these should be listed as separated varieties, eA2007-2a and eA2007-2b.

Skyuka 270 A2b?
Brad Hutto has spotted two patches that should probably be listed as new varieties of recent issues.
The first is a variety of the patch previously listed as the lodge’s “A2?”. It appears I did not previously cover this one on this blog. The first variety has a black pocket loop. The second variety appears to be identical except for the red pocket loop. I suggest these should be listed as “A2a?” (black tab) and “A2b?” (red tab).
The second item is a variety of the bottom piece of this lodge’s 2006 NOAC set. On the first patch, previously listed “X15?”, the fleur d’lis and various other elements of the design are rendered in what I call “light orange” (LOR). On the newer variety these elements are rendered in a significantly brighter color that I call “dark yellow” (DYL). According to Brad Hutto, this was caused by the lodge not having enough of the patches for their needs and then reordering from a different company. I have listed these on this site as “X15a?” and “X15b?”.

Skyuka 270 N4?
Brad Hutto recently sent me images of several issues that have not yet been listed either in Blue Book or on this site. I will break these up into a few posts. First up are the neckerchiefs.
Two new neckerchiefs have been added to this site. The first, listed as “N4?”, was an “Honor” neckerchief issued in 2004. It was also a sixtieth anniversary issue for this lodge. The second neckerchief, listed as “N5?”, is a 2006 Service Award item. I do not know what the specific criteria were for earning either of these pieces.

Skyuka 270 eX2008-4?
Thanks to Jimmy Summers I now have data and images for the remaining 2008 events patches from Skyuka lodge.
The remaining events patches continue the theme established with the 2008 Winter Banquet patch. Each of these patches is shaped like a stereotypical “Indian brave” wearing a single feather. The design prominently features the lodge’s totem incorporated into a totem pole.
The 2008 Pre-Dixie fellowship occurred before the lodge’s Spring Fellowship, as it also did in 2007. I have corrected the 2007 events listings for this lodge on the main portion of the site to reflect this.

Skyuka 270 York Chapter X8?
Three new patches have recently been issued by York chapter of Skyuka lodge. One is reported to me as an “error” that the chapter decided to use. The other two are standard issues with a new design. Thanks to Jimmy Summers for sending news and images of these new issues.
The first issues, labeled York Chapter “X7?”, has been reported as an “error”. It is similar to the “X6?” except the gold mylar fleur d’lis (fdl) has been changed to dark yellow. Reportedly only 27 were made. These are being issued to members of the chapter’s 2008 unit elections team, one per person.

Skyuka 270 Spartan Chapter X10?
After sending images of three recent issues from this chapter, Brad Hutto found a fourth new issue from Spartan chapter of Skyuka 270. This newest one was issued to members of the chapter’s unit election teams. Like other recent issues, this issue is shaped like the state of South Carolina and feature the lodge’s double-headed thunderbird superimposed upon a palmetto tree.
This patch is identical to the one I previously labeled “X9?” except for the color of the fleur d’lis (fdl) which was changed from grey to red. There is no writing on the patch to indicate an intended use for chapter unit election teams.

April Fool!
It should go without saying that my post about this site being sold to a Google/eBay partnership was my annual April Fool's post. I have no plans at this time to give up or sell this web site. Long time readers will know this has become quite the tradition here and I usually start planning the posts several months in advance. The most famous (infamous?) of these was 2008's post concerning the abolishment of lodge names. It still creates difficulty from time to time for those in authority in the OA and BSA due to the inability of some to detect obvious (in my opinion) satire.

OAImages Soon Under New Ownership
This post contains important information regarding the future of this website. Please read carefully.
Many have noticed that I have found it hard to maintain this website for quite some time now. Due to various reasons, some of them beyond my control, updating the price guide regularly has become all but impossible. Things have become a bit less chaotic, but after 15 years this has become a chore. I also know that there will come the day when control of this site will need to be passed to another. With all that in mind, I have been considering various options for the future of OAImages. In the midst of this, a several months ago I was contacted by someone who made me an offer that was too good to resist. After many months of negotiations I am now free to announce that this site has been purchased by a combined partnership of Google and eBay. This will be effective July 1, 2012.

Tschipey Achtu Lodge: Update
Back in 2010 I announced the formation of Tschipey Achtu lodge as a result of the merger of Ty-Ohni 95 and Ganeodiyo 417. At the time I was told they would use the number 397, which is also their council number. This created a bit of controversy as that number is currently in use by Chilantakoba lodge in Louisiana. I also announced their first flap. Other than a 2010 Jamboree issue no further news from this lodge made it to me.
I was talking with a Roger Ward last night who was at the recent Winter South Carolina Trade-O-Ree. He tells me it has not been quiet in that lodge. The use of 397 was problematic. Many wanted to choose a different number. Some wanted to claim the number zero, but that was not well received given the special place Unami 1 holds in the Order of the Arrow. The Scout Executive, I am told, stepped in and told the lodge they will use the lower number from the two merged lodges.
The lodge is now known as Tschipey Achtu 95. I have updated the site to reflect this current information. Several new issues have also been added.

An OAImages iPad App?
Some of those who know me personally, know that I have gone over to the "Dark Side" and have started using Apple products. I bought an iMac a couple of months ago and just recently got an iPad. My brother is trying to tell me that my Droid's days are numbered.
I really like my iPad and started day dreaming about an OAImages app for it. I have no idea how to go about writing this and it would take me into an entirely new area from what I know. It's not something that would happen easily or soon. Here's your chance to give feedback. What do you think about an OAImages app? What would you put in it? Do you have any thoughts on how it would be distributed or how much it would cost?

Coming out of Hiding About April 1st
It's kind of odd to come out of hiding to post about a topic like this.
I'm hearing from some brothers that there have been gullible readers to this blog over the years. I would have thought it was obvious from the context of the posts, but the various posts made on this blog throughout the years that have appeared on APRIL FIRST are all satire. None of them are true. Read them and chuckle but please do not complain to your friendly OA National Committee members, Scout Executives, lodge advisers, or official website administrators about the "changes" that are "announced" in them.
