  Thanks to Jimmy Arthurs for sending word a while back of three more issues from Itibapishe Iti Hollo previously unknown to this site.   All were produced in very limited quantities and prove difficult for more collectors to acquire.The first of these is a third flap for the 2009 Dixie Fellowship.

• Lodge 117: 2009 Fall Fellowship Flaps

  Since the National OA Committee clarified its policy regarding the use of separate flaps by “honor”, many lodges have dropped their use of Ordeal/Brotherhood/Vigil (OBV) flaps to be in compliance with this dictate.   Croatan lodge was one of them.

  This should be the last post about Skyuka lodge for a little while.     Thanks to Brad Hutto, again, for sending images of the first 2010 events issues for this lodge.     The lodge chose a “throwback” theme for this year’s events issues with the patches replicating designs of classic Skyuka issues.

  Previous entries to this blog about the chapters of Tipisa Lodge 326 have shown the multitude of issues that have been created.   By the customs of the lodge and sometimes by their rules,   the chapters carry out some of the functions that  elsewhere would be carried out  at the lodge level (annual chapter  Ordeals, multiple District camporee weekends each year, etc).

  Catawba lodge recently issued a flap for the 100th anniversary of the BSA.   Thanks to Larry Banks for the image of this patch.The flap features the lodge’s totem as well as a WWW superimposed upon an arrow, traditional elements of this lodge’s standard flaps.
• National OA Issues for BSA Centennial

  The National Order of the Arrow is selling several items of merchandise in their online trading post for the BSA centennial.     These items include a flap (conveniently sold either singly,   or in   three, 10 or 20 patch bundles), neckerchief, neckerchief slide, cap and hat pin.The single flap is sold enclosed in a special portfolio and includes a message from the 2010 National Chief and Vice Chief.

  The stream of new issues from the Carolinas continues, and I haven’t even touched the SR-7B and Dixie Fellowship lodge issues yet.       Atta Kulla Kulla lodge recently has issued three event patches for their 2010 Spring Fellowship and two Dixie Fellowship work days.
• Lodge 236: 2009 Events Patches

  Unali’yi lodge issued several patches for its 2009 lodge events.         Along with patches for the 2009 Dixie Fellowship and 2009 NOAC these were intended to be pieced together to form a totem pole design.   This “puzzle patch” idea is not new to Unali’yi lodge, having previously done something similar in 2004 and 2007.

  Eswau Huppeday lodge recently issued their 2010 Spring Fellowship and Elangomat patches.   They continue their custom of yearly themes for their events and special issue pieces with a rather “wet” theme this year.   Thanks to Jimmy Arthurs for these images.Since it is not tied, nor names, a particular event the Elangomat patch is listed within the body of lodge issues.

  Santee recently issued their second event patch of 2010 for this year’s Spring Fellowship. Once again, thanks to Brad Hutto, probably my biggest contributor for images of recent South Carolina issues for this one.Those familiar with this lodge’s issues and their love of tradition will note the patch uses a variation on the traditional red and black double border previously used on the lodge’s Ordeal flaps.

  For years now there has been some concern among select members of the Order of the Arrow’s (OA’s) National Committee that the selection process for the Vigil Honor as practiced in many lodges is seriously flawed.   It has been observed that the process is highly subjective.   It often recognizes those who serve in highly visible positions of authority, or those who manage to find themselves in Scouting’s equivalent of a sinecure.
